President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the 5.8-kilometer-long Depok-Antasari first section toll road, starting from Antasari to Brigif-Cinere, at Cilandak Utama Toll Gate, South Jakarta, Thursday (27/9).

The construction of the Depok-Antasari toll road which spans 21.60 km is divided into 3 sections: Antasari Brigif/Cinere segment (5.8 km); Brigif-Sawangan segment (6.30 km); and Sawangan-Bojong Gede segment (9.5 km).

President Jokowi in his remarks expressed his hope that the inauguration would accelerate the mobility of people and goods from Jakarta to Depok.

The President also appreciated the good cooperation between private sector and State-Owned Enterprises/SOEs (PT CMNP, PT. Housing Development (PP), PT. Waskita Karya) in the construction of the toll road.

“If private sector and SOEs could continue the cooperation and collaboration, I think the construction progress of toll roads across Indonesia will be faster,” said the President.

With the completion of first section of Depok-Antasari toll road, President Jokowi expected the remaining sections to be completed in 2019, faster than initial target of 2021 according to President Director of PT CMNP Tito Sulistio.

Also present in the event were, among others, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro, and Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
