President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated dr. Ben Mboi Central General Hospital (RSUP) in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province, Wednesday (12/06).

This hospital, which was built at a cost of Rp420 billion, is the largest in the province.

“This is the largest hospital in eastern Indonesia, especially in NTT, occupying approximately 14 hectares of land, and the building itself is 35 thousand square meters. This is a very large hospital,” said the President.

The President expressed hope that the presence of this health facility can improve health services for people in eastern Indonesia so that they do not need to go to other areas. Therefore, the Head of State also encouraged the provision of health workers, especially specialist and subspecialist doctors.

“Hopefully this hospital will serve as health infrastructure in NTT and can also improve health services for the community. There is no need to go all the way to Jakarta, because just here everything can be handled. And most importantly, more human resources, especially specialist and subspecialist doctors, must be added immediately, so that existing shortages can be filled immediately,” he said.

According to the President, this hospital has super modern health equipment. He urged the ranks of dr. Ben Mboi General Hospital to take good care of all the equipment. He also expressed hope that this hospital will collaborate with other hospitals in NTT.

“Earlier I have seen the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and the CT (computed tomography) scan, and I wondered whether there are any human resources available here who can operate those facilities. Because the equipment is super modern, so this hospital should be able to collaborate with other hospitals. For example, as I’ve been informed by the Minister of Health, just one tool like the CT scan costs Rp20 billion. Therefore, we must always take good care of the facilities,” he said.
