President Jokowi Inaugurates Ferry Ports and Passenger Motorboats in Lake Toba Area

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (02/02) officiated seven ferry ports and four passenger motorboats (KMP) in the Ajibata Port Pier Area, Toba regency, North Sumatra province.

“I hope the operation of these ports and motorboats will support the super-priority tourism destination Lake Toba as one of the leading tourist destinations in Indonesia. Access to various spots in lake Toba will be easier, faster, and more effortless,” President Jokowi said.

According to the President, ferry ports and motorboats are essential for the people around Lake Toba to support their daily activities and mobility.

Therefore, the President said that Ministry of Transportation is building 13 ferry ports spread over seven regencies.

“Ports and motorboats are urgently needed by the people living around Lake Toba to support their daily activities and mobility, crossing from one port to another, improving inter-district and inter-regency connectivity,” he said.

The seven ports inaugurated on the occasion were Ajibata and Balige Ports in Toba regency, Tiga Ras Port in Simalungun regency, Simanindo Port in Samosir regency, Marbun Toruan/Baktiraja Port in Humbang Hasundutan regency, Muara Port in North Tapanuli regency, and Tongging Harbor in Karo regency.

In addition, the four boats launched on the same occasion were Pora-Pora, Kaldera Toba, Asa-Asa water bus. and Jurung-Jurung water bus. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/EP)
