President Jokowi Inaugurates FIFA Office in Jakarta

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (10/11) inaugurated the opening of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Office, located at Menara Mandiri II in Jakarta.

The President said that this FIFA Asia-hub Permanent Office showed FIFA’s support for Indonesian football progress.

“I thank FIFA for the opening of FIFA Office in Jakarta. The FIFA’s decision to open permanent Asia-hub office in Jakarta has shown that Indonesia has big potential to advance its football development at a global level. I appreciate FIFA’s great supports for Indonesian football. I also thank FIFA for the construction of football training center at Nusantara capital,” the President affirmed.

The President also reiterated the Government’s commitment for supporting and facilitating FIFA to improve integrity and quality of Indonesian football. The President then echoed the country’s readiness to work together in developing adequate sports infrastructures as well as training, educating, and improving Indonesian young footballers. Indonesia would also facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between Indonesia and the world football community.

“I hope the opening of FIFA Office in Jakarta becomes the initial step to realize brilliant achievements for Indonesian football, improve the quality of competition throughout Indonesia, and inspire young generation to pursue their dreams, strengthen sportsmanship, and unite the world,” the President said.

To conclude his remarks, President conveyed his gratitude for the FIFA trust to Indonesia for hosting of U-17 World Cup.

“Thank you, President of FIFA Mr. Infantino, for your contribution to the development of Indonesian football. Thank you for your trust to Indonesia for hosting the U-17 World Cup as well. Hopefully this can be a good initial step to hold more FIFA events in Indonesia,” the President stated. (TGH/UN) (GA/MUR)
