President Jokowi Inaugurates First Central General Hospital in East Indonesia

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (25/3) inaugurated dr. J. Leimena Central General Hospital (RSUP), in Ambon City, Maluku Province.

President Jokowi said that dr. Johannes Leimena Hospital which construction has begun in 2017 is a big healthcare facility. The first central general hospital in East Indonesia is expected to provide excellent services for the people in the East region, mainly in Maluku and also Ambon in particular.

After delivering the statement, the President signed an inauguration inscription that marked the inauguration of the hospital.

Prior to the inauguration, President Jokowi, who is in a working visit to Maluku Province, witnessed mass vaccination for COVID-19 in that hospital. He observed the whole stages in vaccination including the registration, simple medical examination, vaccine injection, and observation.

“Today, I visited dr. Johannes Leimena Hospital in Ambon city where vaccination to public officers, elderly, and religious figures took place,” he said.

For the record, approximately 116,000 people in Maluku Regency including 30,000 people in Ambon have received COVID-19 jabs.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed hope that the vaccination program to be carried on until the target is met.

Also accompanying President Jokowi in that event were, among others, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Governor of Maluku Province Murad Ismail. (TGH/UN) (RAS/LW)
