President Jokowi Inaugurates Four Retention Basins in C. Java

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (12/14) inaugurated four retention basins during his working visit to Central Java province.

The four retention basins include Bansari retention basin located in Temanggung regency, Dukun retention basin and Pagergunung retention basin in Magelang regency, and Tlogoguwo retention basin in Purworejo regency.

“This morning, I came to Temanggung regency to inaugurate four out of 66 retention basins that we have built in 2021,” President Jokowi said in his statement after the inauguration in Bansari Dam, Bansari district, Temanggung regency.

Data from Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) shows that Bansari retention basin has a capacity of 8,588 cubic meters with an inundation area of ​​0.56 hectares and was built at a cost of Rp9.2 billion.

Meanwhile, Dukun retention basin has a capacity of 16,395 cubic meters with an inundation area of ​​0.578 hectares and was built at a cost of Rp8.4 billion.

For Pagergunung retention basin, it has a capacity of 7,500 cubic meters with an inundation area of ​​0.32 hectares and was built at a cost of Rp4.2 billion, while Tlogoguwo retention basin has a capacity of 15,775 cubic meters with an inundation area of ​​0.573 hectares and was built at a cost of Rp11.6 billion.

On that occasion, the President expressed hope that these existing retention basins can provide a number of tangible benefits to boost agricultural productivity, raw water supply, and tourism potential for the surrounding communities.

“We hope that through the existing retention basin, agricultural productivity can be improved, the water can also be used for raw water resource, and it can serve as a tourism site as well,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/MUR)
