President Jokowi Inaugurates Governor, Deputy Governor of Yogyakarta

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (10/10) officially inaugurated Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Aryo (KGPAA) Paku Alam X as Governor and Deputy Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta for 2022-2027 period, respectively. The inauguration was held at State Palace in Jakarta.
Prior to the inauguration, the elected pair received an excerpt of Presidential Decree at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
The inauguration was based on Presidential Decree Number 90P of 2022 on the ratification, dismissal, and appointment of Governor and Deputy Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta for 2022-2027 period.
“I do solemnly swear to fulfill my duties as governor/deputy governor to the best of my abilities and in the fairest way possible, to uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia by all means, and to execute all laws and regulations as straightforwardly as possible, as well as to dedicate myself to the service of the community, the homeland, and the nation,” the oath reads.
For the record, the appointment of Governor and Deputy Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta is based on Law number 13 of 2012 on Special Region of Yogyakarta. The appointment of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and KGPAA Paku Alam X as Governor and Deputy Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta for 2022-2027 period has been made by Yogyakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) at a plenary meeting on August 9, 2022.
