President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the section of Kelapa Gading–Pulo Gebang Toll Road of the Six Inner-City Toll Roads at Cakung Toll Gate on Monday (23/08/2021).

The toll road spanning 9.3 kilometers aims to support toll roads in Jakarta Greater Area (Jabodetabek) and be part of the Jakarta Inner-City and Jakarta Outer Ring Road Toll.

It is expected to improve people’s mobility, logistics distribution, and competitiveness of Indonesian commodities because it is connected to Marunda Special Economic Zone and Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta.

On that occasion, the President underscored the importance of financing scheme between the Government, state-owned Enterprises, and private sectors (Public-Private Partnership/KPBU), as adopted in this toll road construction, to provide funds for national development projects.

He also expressed hopes that the scheme can also be adopted in infrastructure development throughout Indonesia in order to overcome inequality in development.

For the record, the construction of the Six Inner-City Toll Roads in Jakarta is one of the National Strategic Projects as mentioned in the Presidential Regulation Number 56 of 2018. The 69.78 kilometer toll roads planned to be built in three stages. The first stage includes the construction of Kelapa Gading–Pulo Gebang section that spans 9.3 kilometers and Semanan–Kelapa Gading section that spans 20.38 kilometers. (TGH/UN) (AP/MMB)
