President Jokowi Inaugurates KPK Supervisory Board Members
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, through Presidential Decree Number 140/P/2019 on Appointment of Membership of the 2019-2023 Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Supervisory Board dated 19 December 2019, has appointed a former chairman of KPK Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean as chairman and member of the Supervisory Board.
Other members of the Supervisory Board include Artidjo Alkostar (former supreme court judge), Albertina Ho (Deputy Chair of the Kupang High Court, East Nusa Tenggara), Harjono (former constitutional court judge), and Syamsuddin Haris (LIPI researcher).
The five members had sworn an oath before President Jokowi at a ceremony at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday (20/12).
“I do solemnly swear by Allah to perform this task, directly or indirectly, under any name or manner, to not give or promise any manner of thing to anyone,” the members of the Supervisory Board said.
In accordance with Law Number 19 of 2019 on Second Amendment of Law Number 30 of 2002 on Commission for the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, the five members of the Supervisory Board hold a position for four years and can be re-elected for only one term.
The Board is responsible for: a. overseeing the execution of duties and authority of the KPK; b. granting or refusing permission to tap, search, and/or seizure; c. formulating and establishing the code of conduct of the KPK commissioners and officers; d. receiving and acting on reports from the public about alleged violations of the code of ethics by the KPK Commissioners or officers or breach of the provisions of this Act; e. holding a hearing to investigate alleged violations of the code of conduct by the KPK Commissioners and officers; f. periodically evaluating the performance of the KPK Commissioners and officers once a year.
