President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the Kusuma Bangsa (meaning “the nation’s heroes”) Park which will become a place for sacred reflection in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) Area, East Kalimantan province, Monday (08/12).

The President said that the inauguration of Kusuma Bangsa Park was a form of respect for the heroes.

“In order to pay tribute to the heroes, the country’s fighters, especially the nation’s founding fathers, Bung Karno and Bung Hatta, this afternoon we are inaugurating the Kusuma Bangsa Park,” he said.

The Kusuma Bangsa Park, or previously known as the memorial park area, is the place for sacred reflection and the honor roll call at the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in Nusantara Capital (IKN). This park serves as a monument as well as a public space to commemorate the services of independence heroes.

Also present with the President at this event were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces Agus Subiyanto, Acting East Kalimantan Governor Akmal Malik, and Acting North Penajam Paser Regent Makmur Marbun.
