As part of his working visit to Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (20/1) inaugurated the Inaya Bay Hotel and the Labuan Bajo Marina Area.

Labuan Bajo – the gate to the iconic Komodo National Park – is one of the five super-priority tourist destinations the Government is developing as part of its efforts to make tourism industry one of the new drivers of the country’s economic growth.

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I declare the Inaya Bay Hotel and the Labuan Bajo Marina Area open,” the President said.

Speaking on the same occasion, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama said that to support Labuan Bajo as a super-priority tourist destination, it is necessary to improve infrastructure connectivity to boost national and international tourist arrival to this eastern province.

“In an effort to support Labuan Bajo to become a super-priority tourist destination, a joint venture company of state-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry and state-owned construction firm PT Pembangunan Perumahan plans to build infrastructure in Labuan Bajo Marina Area which includes commercial areas, crossing piers, hotels, multifunction halls, and marinas,” the Minister said.

The Inaya Bay Hotel boasts 147 rooms equal to the standard of a four-star hotel and a multifunction hall that can accomodate 1,000 people.

“This is the first multifunction hall in Labuan Bajo that can accommodate a large crowd and can be used as a venue for meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE),” Wishnutama said. (UN/EN)
