President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (03/31) inaugurated Lido Tourism Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Bogor regency, West Java province.

“It will certainly create more than 30,000 jobs. More than 30,000 [people] can work here directly. It is a large number. [The number of those who can work here] indirectly can be higher,” he said to the press following the inauguration.

The President stated that the tourism KEK has a very good concept while expressing hope that the KEK will attract domestic tourists and lessen the people’s intention to travel abroad.

“I suppose this is good and if possible, it should be completed as soon as possible so that we can watch concerts like in Hollywood. Everything will be available here, everything. If you want to watch Coachella, it will be available. It will have everything. Back then, there was Woodstock. It has been prepared,” he said.

Stipulated in Government Regulation Number 69 of 2021, Lido KEK has an area of approximately 1,040 hectares and it is committed to realize an investment of USD2.4 billion or equivalent to Rp32 trillion.

“With the tourism and creative industry theme, Lido KEK is expected to suppress foreign exchange outflow from domestic tourists up to 4.1 billion in the next 20 years. This year, Lido KEK is committed to obtain an investment of Rp694 billion and employ as many as 877 people,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said during the inauguration.

As of March 2023, the total realization of investment in Lido KEK was Rp3.4 trillion, an increase of 72.5 percent or Rp1.4 trillion from 2021. The investment includes investment in the region’s development and investment in businesspeople within the region.

In the meantime, as many as 1,690 people have been employed in the region, an increase of 671.6 percent or 1,471 people from 2021.

For the record, investment in Lido KEK is divided into three stages, namely stage 1 with a target of Rp14.2 trillion, stage 2 with a target of Rp5.8 trillion, and stage 3 with a target of Rp12 trillion.

Currently, Lido KEK is under stage 1 development, which includes projects such as Lido Lake Hotel Extension, Movieland, Music and Art Center, 18-Hole Golf Course & Club House/Country Club, a theme park, and other infrastructure and facilities. (TGH/UN) (DH/MMB)
