President Jokowi Inaugurates Ministry of Health’s Hospital in Makassar
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (09/06) inaugurated Ministry of Health Hospital of Makassar in South Sulawesi province.
According to the President, the Government is not only focusing on infrastructure development but also on health sector.
“To date, I have been inaugurating eight hospitals around the size of this building. I also inaugurated one this morning in Surabaya before heading to Makassar at the invitation of Minister of Health. Still, this hospital building in Makassar is the largest one,” he added.
Ministry of Health Hospital of Makassar that was built with a budget of more than Rp7 trillion consists of four towers with a total of 920 beds and is equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices.
“I think the facilities are on a par with a 5-star hotel. I am also impressed with the medical devices that are all very modern,” he said adding that the procurement budget for medical devices will increase from Rp360 billion to Rp520 billion.
On that occasion, the Head of State expressed hope that the hospital can be dubbed as the center for health services in eastern part of Indonesia, so that the people would no longer seek health services abroad.
He went on to say that Indonesia lost Rp180 trillion of foreign exchange annually because the people prefer to seek health services abroad. Therefore, the Government decided to build international-standard hospitals around the country. (KS/ABD) (RAS/MMB)
