President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (1/10) at the State Palace, Jakarta, inaugurated newly elected East Kalimantan Governor and Deputy Governor Isran Noor and Hadi Mulyadi and South Sumatera Governor and Deputy Governor Herman Deru and Mawardi Yahya.

The inauguration event began with the handing over of Presidential Decree from the President to the pairs at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Afterwards, the President – accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo and the new Governors and Deputy Governors – marched from Merdeka Palace to the State Palace, where the inauguration ceremony took place.

The inauguration of the two elected leaders, who won the simultaneous regional election in June this year, is based on the Presidential Decree Number 173/P and 174/P on the appointment of Governor and Deputy Governor.

After the reading of the Decree, President Jokowi led the procession of taking oath followed by the signing of the inauguration report, followed by President Jokowi, First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and other guests congratulating the new Governors and the Vice Governors.

For the record, Isran Noor and Hadi Mulyadi replaced Awang Faroek Ishak and Mukmin Faisyal as the Governor and Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, while Herman Deru and Mawardi Yahya replaced Alex Noerdin and Ishak Mekki as Governor and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra.

Also present at the ceremony were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (DNA/FID/OJI/AGG/ES) (RI/EP/Naster)
