President Jokowi Inaugurates New Members of Election Organization Ethics Council

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Monday (12/6) at the State Palace inaugurated seven members of the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) for the period of 2017-2022.

The inauguration was based on Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 75/P of 2017 on the Dismissal of Members of the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) for the period of 2012-2017 and the Appointment of Members of the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) for the period of 2017-2022. The decree was stipulated on 9 June 2017.

Seven members of the DKPP are from the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and community figures. They are as follows:

  1. Hasyim Asy’ari (from the KPU)
  2. Ratna Dewi Pettalolo (from the Bawaslu)
  3. Ida Budhiati (community figure)
  4. Harjono (community figure)
  5. Muhammad (community figure)
  6. Alfitra Salam (community figure)
  7. Teguh Prasetyo (community figure)

The inauguration ceremony began with the reverberation of national anthem Indonesia Raya, followed by the recitation of the Presidential Decree by Deputy to the Minister of State Secretary for Apparatus Administrative Affairs Cecep Sutiawan.

Afterwards, the newly-elected members took an oath of office, signed an official report and the ceremony ended with guests attending the ceremony and President Jokowi himself congratulating the members.

Also attending the ceremony were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Attorney General M. Prasetyo, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) General Gatot Nurmantyo, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, and Prof. Jimly Asshidique.
