President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (11/27) inaugurated Brigadier General (Ret.) Edy Nasution as Governor of Riau at the State Palace in Jakarta.

The inauguration is based on Presidential Decree Number 114/P/2023 on the Approval of Dismissal of Vice Governor of Riau and Approval of Appointment of Governor of Riau for the Remaining Term of Office of 2019-2024, stipulated on November 24 in Jakarta.

“I do solemnly swear by Allah that I will fulfill my obligations as a Governor in the best and fairest way possible, uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and execute all laws and regulations in the most faithful manner, and dedicate myself to the service for the people, the state, and the nation,” Edy said, repeating after the President.

Upon the inauguration, Edy, who was the Vice Governor of Riau, replaced Syamsuar, the former Governor of Riau, who resigned to run for a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) in the 2024 legislative elections. (FID/DNS) (DH/MMB)
