The Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road will improve connectivity between the capital of Riau Province and Dumai, a port city with advanced petroleum and agribusiness industries as well as other industrial and plantation areas.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo delivered the statement during the virtual inauguration of the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road, Friday (25/9).

“The toll road also shortens the travel distance of Pekanbaru-Dumai from the previous 200 kilometers to 131 kilometers,” the President said.

President also said that palm oil transportation, petroleum transportation, logistics transportation, and passenger transport will be more efficient in terms of time and cost.

According to the President, the cost for construction of the 131.5 kilometer toll road is Rp 12.18 trillion. The construction has been completed and the toll road is ready to support productive activities of the residents of Riau and the people crossing the island of Sumatra.

“The toll road is part of the Trans-Sumatra toll road, spanning 2,878 kilometers, which stretches from Lampung to Aceh as the main corridor,” the President said. (FID/EN)
