President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (05/31) departed for Riau province onboard the Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1 at around 07.45 Western Indonesia Time via Silampari Airport, Lubuklinggau city, South Sumatra province.

Upon arrival at Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, the President and his entourage will proceed directly to Toll Gate XIII Koto Kampar in Kampar regency.

The Head of State is scheduled to inaugurate the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, including the Bangkinang-Pangkalan section and the Bangkinang-XIII Koto Kampar section.

The President will also inaugurate the implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in Riau province.

In the afternoon, President Jokowi will inaugurate the Bambu Kuning Centralized Domestic Wastewater Management System (SPALDT) in Pekanbaru city. Afterwards, he will head to Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport to depart for Dumai city.

Alhamdulillah, today we completed the first phase of the Bangkinang-Pangkalan section of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, which runs from Bangkinang to Koto Kampar. This 24.7-kilometer stretch was constructed from 2019 to 2024 with a budget of Rp4.8 trillion. It is now fully completed and ready for use,” the President said at the inauguration of the Bangkinang-Pangkalan and Bangkinang-XIII Koto Kampar sections of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road.

On that occasion, the President expressed hope that construction of this segment of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road will continue until it fully connects Pekanbaru to Padang city.

“I urge the governors, the regents, and the mayors in attendance to ensure that the completed toll roads are strategically planned and designed to connect with productive areas such as agriculture, plantations, and tourism. This will bring tangible benefits to the people, promote regional economic growth, and enhance both the mobility of individuals and goods. Our aim is to enhance our competitiveness on the global stage,” he said.

During the inauguration of the implementation of the Regional Road Presidential Instruction in Riau Province, the President explained that the initiative involves the construction and rehabilitation of ten road segments spanning a total of 63 kilometers with a budget allocation of Rp369 billion.

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I hereby inaugurate the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, including the Bangkinang-Pangkalan and Bangkinang-Koto Kampar sections, as well as the implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in Riau Province,” the President remarked.
