President Jokowi Inaugurates Randugunting Dam in Blora Regency

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Wednesday (01/05), inaugurated Randugunting Dam, in Blora regency, Central Java province.

“Thank God, (the construction of) Randugunting Dam in Blora regency, Central Java province has completed and is ready for operation,” President Jokowi said in his remarks.

Randugunting Dam is expected to improve the national food security since it can accommodate 14.4 million cubic meters of water and irrigate 650 hectares of paddy fields in the regencies of Blora, Pati, and Rembang.

“We hope Randugunting Dam will improve our food security, food self-sufficiency. Considering the key to food security is water, we will achieve it if we build as many dams as possible,” he said adding that the dam also has a potential to become a tourist attraction in Blora regency.

Accompanying President Jokowi in that occasion were, among others, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, and Regent of Blora Arief Rohman. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RAS/MMB)
