President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurates the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts for buildings impacted by the earthquake in West Sulawesi province, Tuesday (04/23), at SMKN 1 vocational school Rangas in Mamuju regency, West Sulawesi province.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (04/23) inaugurated the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts for buildings impacted by the earthquake in West Sulawesi province, at SMKN 1 vocational school Rangas in Mamuju regency, West Sulawesi province.

Alhamdulillah, thanks to our hard work, we’re ready to inaugurate 147 rehabilitated and reconstructed buildings in West Sulawesi today following the prior earthquake disaster. Additionally, we have also completed the construction of three roads spanning 22.4 kilometers as part of the implementation of the Regional Road Presidential Instruction,” the President said.

According to the President, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of infrastructure and buildings were undertaken with a budget allocation of Rp1.31 trillion.

The reconstruction includes 47 office buildings, 29 health facilities, 43 educational facilities, one place of worship, one sports facility, seven apartment complexes, two traditional houses, and 17 drinking water infrastructure projects.

“The rebuilding of infrastructure in Mamuju and throughout West Sulawesi province was guided by direct instruction I gave right after the earthquake. The only remaining projects are the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) and Syuhada Mosque,” he said.

The President also mentioned that the reconstruction of educational facilities includes the SMKN 1 vocational school building in Rangas, adding that the Government plans to construct dormitories at this school in the future.

“We’ll soon proceed with constructing the dormitories, as requested by the Principal, the Regent, and the Governor,” he added.

Furthermore, the President revealed that the Government will supply electric cars for practical training purposes at SMKN 1 vocational school Rangas.

“Previously, there was a request for an electric car, considering that the practice site only has combustion cars and old manual cars, despite the prevalence of electric cars in today’s era. It’s important to familiarize ourselves with electric vehicles. This afternoon, I arranged for an electric car to be delivered to the school for practice activities, not for driving,” the President remarked. (TGH/UN) (RIF/MUR)
