President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (08/30) inaugurated the respiratory care building for mothers and children at Persahabatan Hospital, Jakarta.

President Jokowi believed that the hospital would become the main referral for mothers and children in need of respiratory care across Indonesia.

“I believe there will be a lot of people coming from other regions, provinces, and islands outside Java who will also be referred here because the equipment and doctors are highly supportive of the recovery of our mothers and children,” he said.

The President stated that the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) also backed the construction of the respiratory care with a budget of Rp494 billion for the building, Rp115 billion for medical equipment, and Rp42 billion for human resources.

“That is a significant amount of funding. However, it would not be a problem provided that this investment can offer the best services for the community, especially related to mothers and children respiratory care,” he added.

President Jokowi also highlighted that the building is completed with very modern digital medical equipment and supported by qualified medical personnel. He expressed hope that the hospital could serve patients from various regions in the country, especially for respiratory-related diseases in mothers and children.

In addition, the President also said that with this huge investment, the hospital will be able to provide excellent health services and reduce the need for overseas medical treatment. (FID/DNS) (FI/MMB)
