President Jokowi Inaugurates Seven PON XX Venues in Papua Province

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (2/10) inaugurated seven sporting event venues for the 20th  National Games (PON) 2021 in Papua, marked by the signing of an inscription held at Papua Bangkit (Papua Rises Up) Stadium, Jayapura regency, Papua province.

The seven venues of PON XX Papua inaugurated are as follows:

  1. Papua Bangkit Stadium

Located in Kampung Harapan, Jayapura regency, Papua Bangkit Stadium was begun to be constructed in November 2018 and completed in September 2020 with an area of 7,740 square meters and a capacity of 3,148 tribune seats.

The stadium also breaks an Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) record for having the longest textile duct ring installation, the widest dome roof without bolts, and the longest span curved steel roof.

  1. Aquatic Venue

This water sports venue is located in Kampung Harapan, Jayapura regency with a building area of ​​17,783 square meters and a capacity of 1,500 tribune seats. The aquatic venue has been certified by the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

  1. Archery Venue

Located in Kampung Harapan, Jayapura regency, Archery Venue was begun to be constructed in February 2020 and completed in July 2021. This archery venue has a total area of ​​33,600 square meters with a competition area of ​​10,000 square meters.

  1. Cricket Venue

Located in Doyo Baru, Jayapura regency, the cricket venue was built in December 2018 and completed in August 2020. This venue has an area of ​​2,669 square meters with a capacity of 1,657 spectators.

  1. Hockey Venue (indoor and outdoor)

The hockey venue, which was located in Doyo Baru, Jayapura regency, was built in December 2018 and completed in August 2020. The indoor hockey venue has an area of ​​7,425 square meters with a capacity of 1,900 spectators, while the outdoor venue has an area of ​​2,128 square meters with a capacity of 1,250 spectators.

  1. Roller Skate Venue

Located at the Waena Campground, Jayapura city, the skate venue was built in February 2020 and completed in July 2021. This venue has an area of ​​19,800 square meters with a competition area of ​​5,320 square meters. The skating rink has been certified by FOP World Skate Standard.

  1. Rowing Venue

Located in Youtefa Bay, Jayapura city, the rowing venue has a reclamation area of ​​19,771 square meters with a track area of ​​1.7 hectares. The venue was built in February 2020 and completed in August 2021. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RIF/MUR)
