President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (01/08) inaugurated three bridges, Cisadane A and B bridge and Batu Ceper bridge in Tangerang city and Tawing 1 bridge in Serang regency.

The three bridges replaced Callender-Hamilton bridges that have passed their service life.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby inaugurate Cisadane A and B bridge, Batu Ceper bridge in Tangerang city and Tawing 1 bridge in Serang regency,” the President said in his remarks during the inauguration on Cisadane bridge in Tangerang city, Banten province.

The President pointed out that there are 37 Callender-Hamilton bridges spread across several provinces; 3 in Banten, 16 in West Java, 9 in Central Java, and 9 in East Java, adding that the bridges had been used for over 40 years.

“They need replacing as they have passed their service life and prone to collapse if they carry logistics loads that are too heavy,” he said.

The President stated that the cost to construct the three new bridges in Banten province is Rp270.5 billion, with Cisadane A and B bridge using Rp106.7 billion, Batu Ceper bridge using Rp123.2 billion, and Tawing 1 bridge using Rp40.6 billion.

The President also expressed hope that with the new bridges would bring real benefits to the people of Banten province and the surrounding areas, including increasing interregional road accessibility in Banten province.

“[The bridges will] also facilitate the mobility of goods, people, and logistics, as well as reduce the cost of transportation, making it more efficient,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (DH/EP)
