President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (09/10) inaugurated three sections of Trans Sumatra toll road, namely Binjai-Langsa toll road section II (Stabat-Tanjung Pura) and Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat sections III and IV (Tebing Tinggi-Serbelawan-Sinaksak) at Sinaksak toll gate, North Sumatra province.

Alhamdulillah, this morning I will inaugurate Binjai-Langsa toll road section II (Stabat-Tanjung Pura) spanning 26.2 km that has been constructed since 2020 with a budget of Rp11.6 trillion. And also Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat toll road sections III and IV spanning 45.6 km that have been constructed since 2018 with a budget of Rp6 trillion,” the President said.

President Jokowi stated that the newly-inaugurated toll road is part of the 2,994 km Trans Sumatra toll road and expected to shorten the travel time between cities in North Sumatra province.

“Earlier, the Regent of Simalungun told me that it took 3.5 to 4 hours to travel from Medan to this location, but now it only takes about one and a half hours,” he added.

The President also expressed hope that the toll roads can create new economic hubs along Binjai-Langsa and Tebing Tinggi-Parapat, thus improving competitiveness and logistics systems.

“The mobility of people and goods will be faster so that we can compete with other countries,” President Jokowi said. (TGH/DNS) (GWH/MMB)
