President Jokowi Inaugurates Two New Sections of Trans Sumatera Toll Road
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (02/07) inaugurated two sections of Trans-Sumatra Toll Road toll roads: Indrapura-Kisaran section, specifically the Indrapura-Limapuluh segment, and Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat section, specifically the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura segment.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Limapuluh Toll Gate in Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra province.
“[The construction of] Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura toll road with a length of 20.4 kilometers costs Rp3.06 trillion, while [the construction of] Indrapura-Limapuluh toll road spanning 15.6 kilometers costs Rp1.67 trillion,” the President said.
The Head of State expressed belief that the new sections will enhance connectivity, expedite the movement of people and goods, and stimulate economic growth in the region and beyond.
“Both sections of this toll road will improve connectivity to the tourist areas around Lake Toba and accelerate logistics to Kuala Tanjung port, as well as those related to the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (KEK). We hope this will also lead to rapid development and reduce travel time from Medan and surrounding areas to Kisaran and Riau Province, thus driving economic growth in the region and beyond,” he said, adding that the construction of these two sections of the toll road will boost tourist visits and attract investors to tap potentials in North Sumatra province.
“More investors will come to explore potentials in North Sumatra province, increase tourism visits to super-priority destinations in Lake Toba and its surroundings, and streamline logistics costs to Kuala Tanjung Port and the Sei Mangkei KEK,” he remarked. (RF/UN) (APN/EP)
