President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (07/22) inaugurated Wae Mese II Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi said that the Wae Mese II SPAM is part of supporting infrastructure development projects to support tourism sector in Labuan Bajo area. The President also explained that area arrangement in Labuan Bajo must be done in an integrated manner and must ensure the availability of electricity and water.

The investment value to build the Wae Mese II SPAM was worth Rp159 billion. Built since 2020, the drinking water supply system can provide drinking water supply for 40 thousand people in the city.

Furthermore, the Head of State also noticed that there is an increase in investment in hospitality industry as there are many hotels now at Labuan Bajo.

For the record, President Jokowi has inaugurated a number of infrastructures supporting tourism sector in Labuan Bajo including the expansion of airport runaway, area arrangement of Rinca island, arrangement of Marina National Tourism Strategic Area, and Warloka waste management system. The arrangements aimed to improve people’s welfare in East Nusa Tenggara province, particularly in Labuan Bajo.

Joining President Jokowi during the inauguration were First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G.
