The ceremony to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence will be held in both Nusantara and the State Palace, Jakarta, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“This is a transition period, a transition from Jakarta to the new capital of Nusantara. Therefore, the ceremony will be held both here and there,” he said.

The President mentioned that for next year, once the new President makes a decision, the ceremony will be held only in Nusantara.

“Next year, if there is a decision from the President regarding the official relocation of the capital, then the ceremony will only be held in Nusantara. This is also related to the mobilization of transportation and accommodation. It is not easy,” he added.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy revealed that the ceremony of Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17 will be held both at the Jakarta Palace and the Nusantara Capital. Muhadjir mentioned that the ceremony at the Nusantara Capital will be led by President Jokowi, while the one in Jakarta will be led by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin. (KSK/ABD) (EST/MUR)
