The visit to Ukraine and Russia is a manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to the world peace as mandated by the constitution, the President has stated.

“The issue of peace and humanity has always been a priority for Indonesia’s foreign policy. The Indonesian constitution mandates that Indonesia will always seek to contribute to the world peace. In this context, I made visits to Kyiv and to Moscow,” President Jokowi said in a joint press statement with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, in Moscow, Thursday (06/30).

Despite the challenging current situation, the President added, it is important to continue to promote a peaceful settlement and to carry out dialogue.

“I have conveyed President Zelenskyy’s message to President Putin and I reaffirm my commitment to becoming a mediator between the two leaders,” President Jokowi remarked. (UN) (RI/MUR)
