President Jokowi: Indonesia-Singapore Cooperation Must Be Mutually Beneficial

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo asserted that to promote relations and cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore is a must.

The statement was made by Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdurrahman Mohammad (AM) Fachir after accompanying President Jokowi receiving a courtesy call from Singaporean Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday morning (13/1).

According to Fachir, President Jokowi stressed that cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore, which is the biggest investor in Indonesia, must be mutually beneficial.

He also said that the Singaporean Minister also expressed big appreciation to what has been done by the Indonesian Government regarding economic policies, including de-regulation, simplifying procedures (for investment) and other measures.

During the meeting with President Jokowi, Fachir said that Vivian also conveyed his Government’s confidence and trust to make more investment in Indonesia.

Regarding the haze issues, the Singaporean Foreign Affairs Minister also expressed appreciation from the Singaporean Government towards measures that have been taken by the Indonesian Government,” Fachir said.

“He believes that situation in the future will improve and (Singapore) is willing to work with Indonesia,” Fachir said.

Also attending the meeting were Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia Anil Kumar Nayar, and Indonesian Minister of State Secretary Pratikno. (UN/ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
