President Jokowi: Indonesian UMKM Products Still Have Big Market Potentials

Products of Indonesian micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) still have great market potential, according to President Joko Jokowi Widodo.
Nevertheless, the President reminded MSMEs players to avoid mass market in their competition and to enter the niche market such as market for handicraft products because Indonesian products will lose the competition with products from other countries have been mass-produced.
“I can see that the MSMEs assisted by BI have their leaps in terms of quality. The (products) have good packaging, good branding. The designs have changed drastically,” said President Joko Jokowi Widodo at the opening of the 2019 Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) Exhibition organized by Bank Indonesia (BI) at Exhibition Hall A, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Friday (12/7).
The exhibition is participated by MSMEs fostered by BI and adopts the theme ‘Encouraging Economic Growth Through MSMEs Go Export and Go Digital’. The exhibition will be held until Sunday (14/7).
President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for the initiative of MSME players to incorporate their products into the digital market as the probability to expand MSMEs’ products to foreign countries can be bigger.
“The selection method carried out by BI generates premium products. High-quality products can be sold at any price,” the President stated. (FID/OJI/ES)
