President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (08/04) inspected the prices of staple needs at Parangkuda Market, Sukabumi regency, West Java province.

“I am pleased that the price of chicken drops from Rp40,000 to Rp35,000. The prices of several commodities have decreased,” the President said.

The President also pointed out that the price of shallots also dropped by Rp24,000.

“Earlier, I checked the price of shallots at three stalls has gone down as well. However, there is a slight increase in the price of garlic,” he said.

On that occasion, the Head of State said that the decrease in commodity prices has proved the national inflation rate which fell to three percent.

“If we noticed that the national inflation rate fell from 3.5 percent to 3 percent. Thus, if the commodity prices on the ground have dropped, the inflation rate is right,” he said.

Previously, the President arrived at the market around 09.05 Western Indonesian Time.

Afterwards, the President visited several traditional market traders and distributed staple food assistance and cash assistance. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/MUR)
