President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (04/10) inspected prices of basic necessities at Cepogo Market in Boyolali regency, Central Java province.

According to the President, the prices of some basic necessities at the market have seen a decline nearing this year’s Eid.

“Minister of Trade and I as well as Governor of Central Java inspected the latest prices nearing Eid. Apparently, all prices we saw here have decreased,” he said in his press statement following the inspection.

The Head of State pointed out that basic necessities whose prices have decreased are chili, egg, garlic, and chicken meat, adding that the price decline is thanks to the abundant production supply in the region.

“All prices dropped. It is probably because there is a lot of production supply, thus the price decreases. This is good,” he said.

The President also stated that the supply of some basic necessities remains under control two weeks ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri while expressing hope that the prices of some basic necessities also remain under control.

“There are only two weeks left. I suppose, God willing, [the prices] will continue to decrease. Rice [prices] also decreased a little,” he said.

For the record, the President also distributed social assistance to Cepogo Market vendors during the visit. (TGH/UN) (DH/MMB)
