As part of his working visit in Central Java province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi, Wednesday (06/08) inspected Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB) in Batang regency to observe the construction progress in the area.

“We started this two years ago. What we see today, the construction of all the factories has begun, albeit only eight percent progress. However, the construction has already started,” President Jokowi stated in a press statement after inspecting the KCC Glass Project at KITB.

In the first phase, the Government has built and prepared an area of 450 hectares in the estate, all of which have been used for various industries including glass factories, pipe factories, and electric battery factories. The President expressed optimism that the estate will provide beneficial impact for employment.

“Indeed, these are giant industries so it is crucial that they can create huge job opportunities,” he said.

In addition, the President said, the state revenue will also increase in the form of income tax, value added tax, and non-tax revenue.

“This is also related to our trade balance. It will benefit the trade balance because almost all of their orientation is for export.  We want to keep creating these kind of business models not only in Central Java province but also in West Java province as well as other provinces. I think this is a good example,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/LW)
