President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (04/13) inspected the implementation of cash for work program in Cirebon city, West Java province.

The cash for work program activities include the maintenance of parks and pedestrian facilities.

“Today we are working on the Cirebon section to Losari, Central Java province. We have about seven sectors,” Head of the Jakarta – West Java National Road Maintenance Center Wilan Oktavian said.

Wilan said that cleaning the median of the road are carried out twice a year, ahead of Eid al-Fitr as well as Christmas and New Year.

He also expressed hope that the cash for work activities in West Java province can be completed 14 days before Eid.

For the record, data from Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing shows that cash for work activities in West Java province for routine road maintenance, bridge maintenance, and drainage revitalization use a total budget of Rp 133 billion. The three activities are carried out independently with payment given directly to workers in their respective work areas.

Other cash work programs are contractual in nature with management carried out by service providers, with a total budget of Rp 183 billion. The total number of workers for cash for work programs in West Java province is 377,486. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (Rl/MMB)
