President Jokowi Inspects COVID-19 Vaccination in Yogyakarta

Starting his working visit to the Special Region of Yogyakarta, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected mass vaccination for the public at the Jogja Expo Center, Bantul regency, Friday (10/09).

“The best way to protect yourself (against COVID-19) is by getting vaccinated and implementing strict health protocols,” President Jokowi said in his press statement.

In the event, around eight thousand vaccine recipients from various elements of society—including person with disabilities, royal servants (abdi dalem), elderly, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and general public—received AstraZeneca vaccine jab.

“We hope the vaccination can provide maximum protection to the people so they can do their activities as per usual,” the President added.

In addition, President Jokowi stated that it is important to accelerate and expand vaccination coverage so the Government can achieve the target of more than 70 percent of the country’s population have been vaccinated by the end of this year to immediately achieve herd immunity.

The President also expressed his appreciation to the public and all related parties who have taken part to make the vaccination drive a success.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all people who have been enthusiastic to get vaccinated. [The vaccine] will provide protection for all of us since COVID-19 is impossible to disappear completely,” he remarked. (TGH/UN) (GWH/MMB)
