President Joko Widodo conducts sudden inspection to Daruba Hybrid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in South Morotai, on Wednesday (6/4) morning

In addition to the scheduled agenda, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo suddenly inspected Daruba Hybrid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Juanga Village, South Morotai, on Wednesday (6/4) at 06.30 a.m. Eastern Indonesian Time.

Daruba PLTS is an electric generator which could generate 600 KW of electricity, but now it can not operate optimally.

Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said and headed to inspect the control room and solar panels.

“The automatic system is broken, so we can only use manual system. However, there are some that were abandoned and the same condition can also be found in Halmahera,” the President said after inspecting the PLTS.

In the President’s point of view, the management of the infrastructures must under monitoring and control. “We have to know that this big PLTS is handled only by one person. You can see that the devices are huge, and there are a lot of them,” the President said.

After inspecting Daruba PLTS, the President, First Lady Ibu Iriana, and the entourage visited Trikora Museum before heading to Leo Wattimena Military Airport, Morotai.

Accompanying the President and First Lady in the event were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki.(TKP/ES) (RAS/EP/YM/Naster)
