President Jokowi inspects the distribution of cash social assistance to the people, Wednesday (13/5).

President Joko “Jokowi” inspected the distribution of Cash Social Assistance to the people, at the Bogor City Post Office, West Java, on Wednesday (13/5).

“Everything goes well, (the people) were maintaining safe distance in the queue, wearing masks, and cleaning hands with hand sanitizer before receiving the money,” President Jokowi said.

The President went on to say that the health protocols must always be followed during the distribution of Cash Social Assistance.

According to the President, the Government has been providing various social assistance programs to the people, such as Aspiring Family Program (PKH), Staple Food Card, Cash Social Assistance, Non-cash Food Assistance (BPNT), and Cash Transfer Assistance to Villages.

“We hope the programs can reach 55 percent of the citizens who are living in poverty or affected by COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
Also on that occasion, President Jokowi expressed hope that the social assistance program can improve people’s purchasing power and stabilize domestic consumption.

“The first phase of the distribution has not completed yet, but this is the last day of the distribution in this location,” he said adding that the distribution in some other places only 10 percent complete.

The President called on village apparatus and village heads to accelerate the process since people are waiting.

He also appreciated the good cooperation between the Central Government and Regional Governments for implementing the program but they must improve their data collection. The problem of recipient data is understandable since the COVID-19 pandemic is unpredictable.

“However, distribution at the second phase must be better,” he stated.

President Jokowi also reminded the people to report their current condition to their head of neighborhood units (RT/RW) so they can be proposed as beneficiaries of the social assistance.
