President Jokowi Inspects Health Services at Sibuhuan Hospital
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (03/15) inspected health service and facilities at Sibuhuan regional general hospital in Padang Lawas regency, North Sumatra province.
The visit demonstrated the Government’s continuous efforts to provide equal accessibility and quality of health services throughout Indonesia. It also affirmed the Government’s long-term commitment to improving health infrastructure across regions.
During the visit, the President said he wanted to ensure that the patients receive excellent health service at the hospital, adding that services given to patients who use insurance under the Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) are already good.
The Head of State also lauded the hospital for having 17 medical specialists, exceeding the national requirement of a minimum of seven specialist doctors per one regional general hospital.
Nevertheless, the hospital, the President added, can still make improvement, for example, by providing CT scan units, mammography machine, and chemotherapy facilities, as well as by increasing building and room capacity.
“We will intervene to improve the hospital,” the President said, adding that cardiovascular subspecialties in Indonesia need to be added.
In the meantime, patients using BPJS Kesehatan insurance expressed their satisfaction for its online system that makes the process more efficient. They also admitted that BPJS Kesehatan really helps them in terms of health service costs. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/EP)
