President Jokowi Inspects Kambara Market, Ensures Price Stability

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo visited Kambara market in West Muna regency, Southeast Sulawesi province, on Monday (05/13). The visit was aimed to ensure the price stability of basic commodities in the local area.

“I have visited Kambara market in West Muna regency. I wanted to check basic commodities’ price, especially rice’s price,” President Jokowi said in his press statement.

Based on his inspection, President Jokowi mentioned that, in general, the prices in Kambara market were stable and good. On rice, the President further mentioned that medium rice’s price was at Rp12,600, while premium rice’s price was at Rp13,000.

“Also, chili’s price was at Rp55,000, onion’s price at Rp50,000, and so on, I think the prices here are good,” he carried on.

During the visit, President Jokowi also mentioned about the plan of traditional market development to support local people’s economic activities. According to him, traditional market development conforms to the agenda of the local government.

“The market here will be designed first this year, and then the project will be carried out by the new government,” he said.

Not only checking prices, in the market, President Jokowi was also having interaction with the sellers, such as Dariah, a chili seller, and Siti, a snack seller. They said that they were happy to meet the President.

During the visit, President Jokowi also gave working capital assistance to the sellers, which was expected to serve as additional capital for them in order to improve local economy. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (AW/LW)
