President Joko Jokowi Widodo Thursday (01/19) inspected Likupang port in West Likupang district, North Minahasa regency, North Sulawesi province.

Upon arrival at around 16.30 Central Indonesian Time (WITA), the President and his entourage boarded Nirmala Bahari 1 bottom glass tourist boat to inspect the ship’s facilities.

Head of Likupang Class III Port Administration office Mohammad Qowi expressed joy over the President’s visit to the port.

“We were honored when President Jokowi told us that the bottom glass tourist boat is in an extraordinary, clean, and good quality,” Qowi said, adding that the boats are here to support Likupang as super-priority tourism destination.

The port authority, Qowi continued, is currently building a number of facilities, including a tourist terminal, a parking area, a floating pier, docks for open deck ships, and green open spaces and is also revamping the existing 120-meter pier.

“All facilities are expected to be completed in this year to support Likupang tourism,” Qowi remarked. (TGH/UN) (GWH/EP)
