President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (11/6) inspected mass COVID-19 vaccination at the Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, Central Java province.

As many as 1,000 people are expected to get vaccinated consisting of port workers, people living around the port area, as well as people with disabilities.

“This afternoon we have vaccinated 1,000 people and later this week the vaccination will reach 4,000 people,” said the President in a press statement after the inspection.

The President said that the Tanjung Emas Port has a very high level of people interaction and mobility, ranging from loading and unloading activities, ship movements, passenger movements, to activities of officers at the port.

Therefore, President Jokowi expressed hope that the mass vaccination can create herd immunity to provide protection for workers and the people around the port.

“We hope that the acceleration of the vaccination drive can protect officers, public servants, workers at the Tanjung Emas Port in order to reach herd immunity which in the end will stop the spread of COVID-19,” he said. (TGH/UN) (EST/MUR)
