President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Friday (29/11) has said to the recipients of the Fostering the Economy of the Prosperous Family (known as Mekaar program) to use their loan money for business capital.

The Mekaar project is developed by state-owned community development institution PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM).

“Don’t use the money for consumptive activities,” President Jokowi said in his inspection on the implementation of Mekaar program in Subang Regency, West Java.

According to the President, if the recipients earn profit from the business, they may use it to pay the installment and if there is still any money left it should be saved. They should do them with discipline. “Discipline is a necessary thing,” he added.

President Jokowi also advised recipients to use their collected savings for their children’s school fees. “(Your children) could have become a Minister or even become President,” the President said.

Furthermore, the President allowed the recipients to buy a motorcycle using loan money only for business purposes. He also ordered them to calculate it first so they are able to pay the installment. “Please be careful,” President Jokowi concluded. (HIM/JAY/ES)
