After inspecting the road section from Jambi City to Gelam River, Muaro Jambi regency, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his entourage Tuesday (05/16) continued their journey to the section of the National Road from Jambi City Border to Talang Dukuh Port, Muaro Jambi regency, Jambi province.

The community’s complaint regarding this road section is the heavy traffic caused by coal transport trucks heading to Talang Dukuh Port at night. The condition of the national road is relatively good, but the regency road is in poor condition.

After traveling for nearly an hour, the President’s entourage arrived at Talang Dukuh Port. When they were about to turn back, the President requested to go in the opposite direction.

On that road, visible damage to the road was apparent. The President was also seen getting out of the car to observe firsthand the road damage.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, mentioned that although the road belongs to the regency, the repairs will be carried out by the Central Government.

“This is a regency road, we will fix a 2 kilometer stretch,” said the Minister. He further explained that the road is indeed used by coal transport trucks. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT) (AS/MUR)
