President Jokowi Inspects Nursery Center Site Development

In a bid to maintain the ecology and develop green economy, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (27/11) inspected the Rumpin Seed Source and Nursery Center in Bogor Regency, West Java.

“We hope the Rumpin Nursery Center will be completed next year and can produce approximately 16 million seeds,” President Jokowi said.

The produced seeds will be distributed to locations that often hit by floods and landslides. “Still, I order the Nursery Center to produce plants that have both ecological and economic functions,” the President added.

On the location, President Jokowi also inspected the tissue culture laboratory, pruning garden, shading house, and propagation house.

For the record, the nursery center will be built on 159.58 hectares of land divided into seed zone, community management zone, training zone, and business development zone.

The Rumpin Seed Source and Nursery Center will be a pilot project for similar developments that will be carried out in a various locations such as Toba (North Sumatra), Mandalika (NTB), Labuan Bajo (NTT), and Likupang (North Sulawesi). These locations are not included for the construction of nurseries for 630 thousand hectares of mangrove forest restoration. (BPMI/UN) (GWH/LW)
