President Jokowi Inspects Presidential Office Construction in IKN

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected the construction progress of Presidential Office in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan province, Friday (03/01). The infrastructure construction has currently reached 74 percent.

Director General for Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works and Housing Diana Kusumastuti said that the construction of the main building structure has been completed. Currently, the directorate general is focusing on the steel installation and the parts of Garuda’s wing feathers which are the important part of the construction.

“Currently, there are 1,282 out of 4,650 parts of wing feathers that have been installed, about one third of it. We hope that the installation of the parts of Garuda’s wing feathers will be completed at the end of March,” Diana said.

Additionally, Diana emphasized that it is important to build environmentally-friendly and smart-concept Presidential Office besides the interior construction. She expressed hope that Presidential Office in IKN can be completed and functioned on June in order to hold the ceremony of the 79th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.

Despite some hindrances, especially on logistics and the installation of steel and parts of the wing feathers, Diana is still optimistic that the construction will be completed on time.

The new Presidential Office is hoped to be the icon of Nusantara Capital City, especially the display of Garuda that will be the infrastructure symbol of IKN.

Accompanying President Jokowi during the visit were Minister for State Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister for Investment/Head of Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia,Minister for Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister for Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Minister for Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of National Land Agency Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

Also attending the inspection were Head of IKN Authority Bambang Susantono, Chairperson of Presidential Advisory Council Wiranto, Commander of Indonesian National Defence Forces General Agus Subiyanto, and Curator of IKN Development Ridwan Kamil. (KS/UN) (AW/LW)
