President Jokowi Inspects Pulang Pisau Swamp Reclamation Project in C. Kalimantan

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected the development of swamp reclamation project in Tahai Baru, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, Thursday (9/7).

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono told President Jokowi that project which has a total budget allocation of Rp9.8 billion is aimed at rehabilitating irrigation network to improve its function that can support national new food shed project in Central Kalimantan.

After the inspection, President Jokowi and the entourage headed to Belanti Siam to observe development of national food shed in Belanti Siam, Pandih Batu Subdistrict, Pulang Pisau Regency.

On their way to the region, the President stopped by Pangkoh Hulu Village, Pandih Batu Subdistrict to inspect rehabilitation of the irrigation network of the Rawa Belanti I Irrigation Area that has a total area of 3,545 hectares.

On that location, he also compared three types of land: land that has been planted, land that must be rehabilitated, and land that needs to be cleared.

Also joining President Jokowi in that event were, among others, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, and Governor of Central Kalimantan Sugianto Sabran. (BPMI/EN)
