After conducting an inspection at the rice harvest area and dialogue with local farmers in Indramayu, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (21/04/2021) headed to Batang Integrated Industrial Zone in Ketanggan village, Gringsing district, Batang regency, Central Java province to continue his working visit in West Java and Central Java.

“Now it has been prepared and the work completion reached almost 450 hectares that will be used for investment in sectors more related to technology,” the President said after inspecting the area.

This working visit is intended to inspect Batang Integrated Industrial Zone’s readiness because in May 2021 the Government will perform groundbreaking of the largest glass industry in Southeast Asia, according to the President.

In June or July, President Jokowi added, the construction of other industries, namely precursors industry (chemical) and cathodes industry (lithium) will also begin to start.

The Head of State further said that this Batang Integrated Industrial Zone would become a pilot for the development of industrial areas in other regions.

“I will regularly check this industrial area because this vast area has very good competitiveness. This industrial area also will become a pilot of other industrial areas located in the provinces, both in Java and outside Java in the future,” President Jokowi said.

On that occasion, the President expressed hope that Batang Integrated Industrial Zone will provide as many jobs as possible, provide as many job opportunities as possible, and make capital inflow to Indonesia so that it will boost Indonesia’s national economic growth. (DND/UN) (AP/EP)
