As part of his working visit to South Sumatra province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected Bukit Sulap Market in Lubuklinggau city on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

The purpose of this visit was to monitor the prices of basic commodities and ensure their stability in local markets.

President Jokowi stated that his inspection revealed that the prices of basic commodities at Bukit Sulap Market were similar to those at other markets he had previously visited. “The prices of shallots, chilies, they are all almost the same,” said the President in his press statement.

Earlier, President Jokowi inspected Lawang Agung Market in North Musi Rawas regency. Based on his observations, the prices of basic commodities in both markets were almost the same.

For example, medium rice was priced at Rp14,000 at Bukit Sulap Market, while at Lawang Agung Market it was Rp13,000. For premium rice, the prices at both markets ranged from Rp15,000 to Rp17,000.

Similar prices were also observed for large red chilies and curly chilies, with both markets selling them in the range of Rp45,000 to Rp55,000 per kg. The price of chicken eggs was also observed to be the same, around Rp28,000 per kg.

This visit highlighted the importance of monitoring and maintaining the stability of basic commodity prices in local markets, especially ahead of the Idul Adha holiday. (BPMI/AIT) (EST/MMB)
