President Jokowi Inspects Tax Return Reporting Process in Surakarta

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (03/09) visited Surakarta Tax Office in Central Java province to inspect the process of reporting annual tax return (SPT) there.

“I was amazed that people would stand in line to file their annual tax return. They could’ve filled it through e-filling online app from home but they wanted to ensure they have filed the right form,” he said a statement.

The President added said that as of March 9, 2023, 6.6 million taxpayers have filed their annual tax return, while underscoring that the figure has increased from 5.4 million taxpayers in the previous year.

“People are eager to file their annual tax returns. It makes me proud,” he said, adding that he filed his annual tax return last Monday.

The President also called on taxpayers to file the annual tax return before the March 31 deadline,  adding that tax revenue will be used to for development across Indonesia.

“We hope the tax revenue can be used to provide fuel subsidy, electric subsidy, fertilizer subsidy, village funds, social assistance and to develop infrastructure such as roads, ports,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AP/EP)
