President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (08/23) inspected renovation progress of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) cultural park in East Jakarta.

The President expressed hope that the renovation, which costs a budget of Rp1.1 trillion, can make the park a tourist destination where domestic and international tourists can enjoy arts and cultural diversity that Indonesia offers.

“I hope the admission ticket will not be too costly,” President Jokowi said.

According to the President, the park has not been massively renovated since 1975, adding that regional leaders are also urged to renovate the traditional houses representing their regions.

President Jokowi also told the management of the park to regularly organize arts and cultural events so that public and children can enjoy good entertainments there, while expressing hope with renovation progress already reached 98 percent, the park can be operational by the end of this year.

In the meantime, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said that the renovation was carried out with the concept of natural architecture, adding that a number of traditional houses will be constructed in accordance with a number of provinces in Indonesia. (FID/UN) (AP/EP)
